Lindsey Bradley

Volunteer Firefighter - Otonabee South Monaghan Township

Lindsey's Story :

Who are you?

My names Lindsey Bradley. I am 21 years old originally from Blackstock Ontario, but currently living in Peterborough.  I grew up playing hockey, lacrosse, and racing motocross.

Why did you become a firefighter?

Becoming a fire fighter has always been a dream of mine.  Giving back to my community is definitely something that impacted my decision on applying to the department.  A few family members are full time fire fighters and I have always looked up to them, it’s defiantly a job that I’ve dreamt of doing since I was a kid.

What was your happiest/best moment as a firefighter?

My best/happiest moment thus far as a firefighter is definitely going to my first fully involved structure fire.  The Santa Clause Parade, seeing all the kids get excited to see us in our bunker gear is also something that I thought was really cool.

What are you proudest of in life?

There are many things in life that I am proud of; graduating from college, getting into the fire hall as a volunteer, and the relationships that I have built with family and friends, and my motocross career.   I also take pride in maintaining my health and fitness.

What is it like being a woman in a non-traditional career?

Being a woman in a non-traditional career makes me feel accomplished and empowered.

What inspires you?
The biggest source of my inspiration is working hard towards my goals.

What would you say to young woman of today about life, jobs, and dreams?

I would tell young woman that are working towards a goal to never give up and push yourself.  The harder you work, the greater you’ll feel when you achieve it.
