Danica Davis

Danica's Story :

Hi my name is Dani Davis.

I am 14 years old and in the ninth grade at Thomas A. Stewart Secondary School.  I am involved in various different sports such as hockey, basketball, baseball and curling.  I am proud to say that I have been involved in the agricultural community since I was born.  I started to become more involved when I turned 9 years old and joined the 4-H program.  Within the program I have participated in clubs like beef, sheep, field crops, cattle fitting, baking and cooking.  I have shown beef cattle all across the province at various competitions and fairs. Since then our purebred simmental herd has grown to about 15 head..

For the past two years I have been a Board Member of the Ontario Young Canadian Simmental Association.  On this Board I had the opportunity to become involved in organizing our yearly provincial show and have become more knowledgeable about the breed.  Along with supporting my agricultural community I have been an active member in my elementary school community as well as the community of Keene.

While at North Shore Public school my leadership skills grew while I was a part of student council. This led me to have confidence to volunteer in many different aspects of my life.  Whether it is volunteering with organizing school dances, fundraising for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, singing at the Keene United Church, helping with summer camps, fundraising for the simmental association or working at the local pumpkin festival, I have become closer with my community and agricultural community because of these opportunities.

Being the 6th generation on our family farm I hope to carry on the tradition of promoting agriculture, supporting my community and local farming through leading and volunteering
