Rose's Story :
I feel very fortunate to have lived the life that I have.
Not many people know this, but when I was 5 years old, my incredible mother was faced with the difficult decision to move to a women’s shelter to find a better life for her children.
Being raise by a single mom showed me how to be strong and independent from a very young age. We were so lucky to have that resource available to us in a time of need. I make a point to not take anything for granted and put people above everything else. It also taught me that wealth is not measured by your bank account, but rather by your lived experiences.
Now, in my late 20s, I have been fortunate to have lived overseas, received world-class education (studying at Queen’s University, Fleming College and York University) and I have embraced the incredible business community in Peterborough. I have the absolute pleasure of helping to design and build Peterborough’s tech incubator and work with the regions most high-potential, salable startups.
I am addicted to being creative. My chosen career, marketing and PR, allows me to have an outlet for that addiction! By night I devote my time to as many different causes as I can. I know that without the support that my family received early on in life, I may not be in the position that I am today. I was the Chair of the Market Hall Performing Arts Center board for two years and most recently I co-founded 100 Women Peterborough with three other incredible women who I look up to. The group increases and encourages female philanthropic participation no matter the income bracket.
I am extremely passionate about the democratization of philanthropy and I encourage anyone who’s reading this to give back – you never know how a small act could change a life!
I am also about to embark on the journey of motherhood with an awesome partner by my side.
Oh, and did I mention that I am obsessed with pugs and pizza!
