Her Story

Laura Crann

Property Manager - Social Media Influencer - Ashburnham Realty

Laura's Story :

I have always heard the saying that “there is something in the water” in the Peterborough area.  I was born and raised here. I have never left and I can truly say that it is the best place to live. This is why I spend a lot of my time supporting local businesses and making sure that everyone I know is aware of my love for this community. That’s probably why most of my clothing is Northern Originals. I represent this Peterborough brand proudly.

A BIT ABOUT ME: I am 28 years old. I am married to Jesse and am a stepmother to his two children. I went to school for Paralegal/Law Clerk at Fleming College. I ended up getting my Paralegal License from the Law Society but decided that was not the path that I wanted to continue with. For awhile, I worked for Bowes & Cocks (a local Real Estate Broker) and eventually got hired by Ashburnham Realty (a local Property Management company). It is through Ashburnham Realty that I began to network, socialize and be mentored by some of the great people in our community. For almost 5 years, I have been working as a property manager/social media influencer. I am truly proud of the local business owners who are our commercial tenants which makes my job so much
easier when I can promote them on social media. Property management can be a challenging but rewarding career. We have a small team but we are a family. We work together and believe in maintaining relationships. I am able to manage commercial and residential tenants but also be out in our community supporting charities, organizations and awesome events. I am on the DBIA marketing committee which I love.

I have always persevered through school and work. I have passion, determination and a loyal attitude. I am sure that most people I know can attest to this. Those close to me likely call me a workaholic but you know what? That just makes me smile. I learned from a young age what work ethic was and so glad that I did because that has brought me to where I am today. I enjoy opportunities that are presented to me within our community and my workplace and I enjoy the people I work with. I am so grateful and fortunate to be able to have enjoyable work within my
hometown. Don’t get me wrong, I have bad days and I deal with difficult situations but at the end of the day – I am a fighter and I will get through it.

Recently, I have been fighting a medical issue: endometriosis and bilateral ovarian cysts. I have recently come to terms with creating awareness about my condition because more woman need to be
informed. I have been battling this condition for over two years and regret not being an advocate for myself sooner. I worked through the pain and kept pushing but realized this past year that as woman, we need to listen to our bodies more. We need to know when to stop, relax, take a break and we need to be able to enjoy life. As much as possible, I listen to podcasts or read selfcare books because I know what type of woman I want to become. This is something I am determined to work for every single day and hope that other woman will live their best life. To have the courage to take control of your life through unexpected circumstances awakens you. So eat the food, spend time with your friends and family, and do not ever forget that you are your greatest asset. Take care of yourself and make a difference in your life or possibly someone else’s.
