Growing up I always felt like I was a little different. I recognized my adventurous soul, my overwhelming need to prosper, and my nomadic mentality from an early age.
A nomad.
Not necessarily in the traditional sense of the word, but more so as a mind-set and the way I intended to live my life.
I was curious; always wanting to know more and explore everything I could, as thoroughly as I could. I was determined; identifying exactly what I wanted out of life and going after it. I was a risk taker; always willing and eager to push myself out of my comfort zone in search of my next adventure or endeavour. But… I was also flexible. Always willing to roll with the punches, pivot, or retreat when necessary… that type of nomad.
Yes, there was a period when the traditional nomad in me emerged. I lived with whatever I could carry on my back and took great pleasure in packing up my personal treasures and recreating a new home at my next destination. I truly loved this life but there was always something that brought me back to Canada; my family and the desire to one day start my own.
I am now a mother, a wife, a homeowner, and an entrepreneur. I have roots, I have responsibilities, and I have people I depend on and people who depend on me. I’m a ‘contemporary’ nomad if you will.
My contemporary nomadic mentality is what fuels my day-to-day life. I am a true believer in taking risks, challenging myself, and exploring all that the world has to offer, but that doesn’t mean without purpose. I am committed to living intentionally, on my own terms, and in alignment with my core values and priorities. I don’t believe there is a set blueprint to follow, rather, an instinctive desire to grow, learn, and adapt.
Stay curious.
