Debbie CarriereElizabeth Fry Society, Peterborough
I have worked at the Elizabeth Fry Society of Peterborough since 2012.
It is impossible to work here without becoming a passionate advocate for the mission.
Every day I have the pleasure of interacting with women who courageously invite us to walk along with them on their journey.
Every woman’s story filled with unbelievable courage, strength, and resilience in the face of oppression, despair, and hopelessness.
I have my own story of survival, recovery, and rebuilding that makes my passion for ending the criminalization of poverty, addiction, mental health, and domestic violence even more poignant.
Every day I hope to pass along to my four amazing children the important messages that guided me when I forged my way through and beyond crisis.
These messages include, that there is happiness that can be found every single day no matter how difficult the circumstance, you just need to know how and where to look for it, and that every human being regardless of the path they have walked or are walking is deserving of dignity.
In my recent years of life I have discovered an extreme love of travel and hope that my many adventures will continue to allow me to cross paths with amazing inspirational people along the way.
