Maude Rose Craig
Maude Rose's Story :
I live 10 months of the year in Toronto where I am a grade eight student at Bond Academy School. But in the two months of the summer I am lucky enough to live in Peterborough as my mom works at 4th Line Theatre in Millbrook. I have been so fortunate to have the beautiful country and the cultural city balanced all throughout my life. During the school year I am lucky to see lots of theatre and go to museums and galleries and then for the last 14 summers I have been able to hang out at the beautiful Winslow Farm. I have been in many plays from the time I was four years old and I have also been exposed to what it takes to make the entire theatre run. Being able to act/perform/work at 4th Line has taught me so much including the value of hardwork, determination and respect for oneself and others and how all of these things are essential parts of living a good life.
And I am very proud to say that I am living proof that hard work and determination can pay off. In grade one, I really struggled with reading and mathematics so my parents decided to enroll me in a tutoring program called Kumon. Kumon is a repetitive learning program, so everyday you do a booklet of the subject or subjects you are struggling with. I did Kumon for three years and there was a lot of arguments about it and tears too, because hard work can sometimes not be fun. And it can feel like it will never end. But after those years I got most improved student in our academic award ceremony at the end of grade three. At the end of grade seven, after many long, sleepless nights, I got five achievement awards including mathematics, english, science, grade seven athlete of the year and the award for overall academic achievement. I am living proof that hard work and focus can pay off.
I feel like I am a well-rounded person who plays lots of sports, sings, plays violin, danced for five years and loves to act. I have also recently been doing some modelling. I have modelled in Start-up Fashion Week Toronto and Montreal and in London, England Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. I have also done print shoots and had my photos published in Milk Magazine. I really like the beautiful clothes and accessories I have gotten to wear and the amazing artistry of the hair and makeup people. I don’t think I am going to make a career of modelling but it sure is fun for right
now. And I like overcoming the nerves and fear that comes with walking a runway show in front of a packed room of adults and all while wearing high heels.
As I grow-up, I hope that I can transform the world around me in some important way. I am very interested in the environment and the climate issues we are facing
