What is the Inspire Project ?

What is the Inspire Project ?

On the surface the Inspire project is fairly simple;  take photographs of amazing women in our local community.

But Inspire is deeper and more complex then a simple photo;  the women in this project reach out and touch  many lives each day;  uplifting, supporting and championing others.  They have embraced this project and by nominating other women to be featured have made Inspire a living example of its philosophy.  Each photo not only celebrates an extraordinary woman but showcases the strength of community that happens when people uplift and support each other.

Inspire is a completely organic and community driven selection of an area’s diverse and amazing women.

      How does Inspire work ?

Women in the community are nominated to be a candidate for the project either by a fellow nominee,  from an original foundation selection pool,  or from co-workers, managers, friends and family.    To nominate a woman click   here

Once the candidate accepts the nomination a time is set up for Heather and Selena to meet with the nominee for the portrait session.   Most nominees choose their place of work to be the backdrop to their portraits;  but alternate locations that resonate strongly with the candidate can also be chosen.  For those who prefer there is an in-studio option as well.

After the portrait session;  3 photos are selected for publication; with 2 portraits immediately being displayed on the Inspire webpage and social media pages.   These are displayed along with a nominee written bio and the nominee’s choice of 3 words that they feel best represent them.    The third and final portrait is kept in secret until the year end reveal gala.

The candidate is encouraged to nominate 2 other women for the project.    In this way the Inspire project grows organically and becomes a living reality to the philosophy behind it.
