      Ashley’s  Story :

My names Ashley Buck, I’m 23 years old, and I grew up on a farm in Norwood Ontario.

At the age of nine I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, and had to spend a lot of time at Sick Kids Hospital.

A disease that was hard on me for many years, ended up inspiring and transforming me into the individual I am today.

After seeing firsthand the difference our health care system makes, I decided to pursue a career in this field; I currently work as A Registered Nurse, where I can give back the care and compassion I received as a patient over the years.

This disease has allowed me to connect with and support others in our community who live with Crohn’s and Colitis.

I am a member of the Peterborough Gutsy Walk Committee, volunteering with this event for the past 4 years.

Giving back and helping those in our community is something I am extremely passionate about and thrive to do on a daily basis.

Growing up on a farm, I have always been interested in agriculture and the community that comes along with it.

I am currently the Peterborough County Queen of the Furrow.

I am able to advocate and support agriculture at local events.

Alongside the Peterborough Plowmen’s Association, I have been able to help in the preparation for the 100th Peterborough County Plowing Match, taking place this September.

Through this organization and program I feel more connected to agriculture and our community, and have been able to pursue my passion of helping others.

I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring the outdoors, and playing three-pitch in the summer.

One of my biggest accomplishments to date is the recent purchase of my first home!

I am incredibly honoured to have been nominated for this program knowing that I can inspire others in my community to always stay positive, work hard, and give back when possible.
